Webinar 1: "Dialogue on Marine Solutions in the Pacific"

15 June 2020

The BEST Initiative seeks to promote the conservation of biodiversity and the sustainable use of ecosystem services, including ecosystem-based approaches to climate change adaptation and mitigation, in the EU Outermost Regions and Overseas Countries and Territories.

As part of our Journey to Marseille, a series of online events leading up to the IUCN World Conservation Congress in January 2021, IUCN and its partners are pleased to annouce the BEST-PANORAMA Webinar Series.

Thursday, 25 June 2020, 16:00 to 17:15 (Caribbean) / 22:00 to 23:15 (Brussels) - Friday, 26 June 2020, 7:00 to 8:15 (Noumea) / 10:00 to 11:15 (Tahiti)

This series will kick off in June 2020 by giving the stage to practitioners to lead a discussion on Educational and Locally Managed Marine Areas in the Pacific. Protected areas are essential for nature and the wellbeing of human communities. The management of marine areas is not an easy task, and varies widely from one region to another, influenced by different visions of how nature should be protected, and grounded in a range of economic, environmental and social perceptions.
